Crystalens

Crystalens HD Kagan Institute Los Angeles

Crystalens HD gained FDA approval in late 2003. It was designed to restore the eye's accommodation ability, which is gradually reduced as presbyopia progresses. "Accommodation" is the ability of the eyes to change focus from near to far, far to near, and all distances in between. With presbyopia, which usually begins at around age 40, the eye muscle that accomplishes this accommodation has more difficulty in doing its job, because the eye's lens is becoming less flexible. Since Crystalens HD has hinges on both lens sides, it can be moved more easily by the culinary muscle, allowing the eye to focus more naturally at a greater range of distances than traditional lens.

The Crystalens HD is designed to move within the eye, to provide focusing at all distances. It's a small lens enabling it to flex or bend as you focus vision. If you are like most patients who have the Crystalens HD, you can expect to enjoy the” luxury of sight" near, far, and everywhere in between and see everything more clearly. Your focus will be sharper than it has been in years, and you can expect to see more improvements over time.

The Crystalens HD procedure is typically performed in an outpatient surgical facility. A number of topical drops will be placed in your eye and you may be administered medications to help you relax. The actual surgery usually takes less than 15 or 20 minutes. You will feel no pain, only slight pressure on your eye. All you have to do is relax and hold still.

The recovery time is usually short. Most patients are able to pursue normal activities almost immediately after surgery. Dr. Kagan will discuss with you what to expect before, during, and after the procedure as well as eye drops and postoperative office visits.

Please call us at 323-937-2269 to schedule consultation with Dr. Kagan to see if you are a candidate for this procedure. Dr. Kagan will perform a thorough examination and advise you of a customized treatment plan for effectively correcting your vision.
