I am writing to you to express how much the CK procedure changed my life.

I was told that I needed glasses for reading, something I never thought I would need. I started to get used to them, and while reading a book, or newspaper at home no problem, but when I was out I often forgot my glasses, so I would have terrible problems reading menus, theater programs etc. This made me feel very old; I remember others always asking me to read things to them as they could not see, now it was me.

My experience with Dr. Kagan and his office was as close to ideal as it gets. I came to him with perfect long distance vision and the nuisance of an increasing dependence on reading glasses due to age.

He made no false promises, and took an inordinate amount of time explaining what I would gain and what I would lose if I chose to have CK surgery. My experience with most doctors is that they are condescending and impatient, so his 30 minutes of calmly allowing me to decide what to do, not only the initial appointment, but on the day of scheduled surgery, was reassuring and empowering.

I am thrilled with the results, and exchanging my eagle eyes with better near distance task related functions was well worth it. I can still see relatively well in the distance, and my concern of not enjoying a movie or driving without glasses has not been the slightest issue.
