Have you started to notice your vision becoming cloudy? Are you concerned about the health of your natural eyesight? There is a chance you may be living with cataracts. However, the professionals at the Kagan Institute offer a range of cataract surgery options to help improve your vision. Discover which procedure may be best for you during a consultation with our professionals in Encino or Los Angeles, CA.
What Are Cataracts?
Cataracts refer to a natural, gradual clouding of vision. The natural lens of the eye becomes clouded, and this blurs and negatively impact vision. Seeing with cataracts is comparable to looking through a foggy or frosted window.
Cataracts are considered the leading cause of vision loss for individuals over the age of 40. While they are a common and chronic problem, they can be treated. The damaged or cloudy lens may be able to be replaced with a clear, artificial lens to promote clear vision. Our professional staff proudly offers a variety of cataract surgery options to promote clear, healthy vision.
ReStor
For patients with cataracts and presbyopia, there is the AcrySof® ReSTOR® Aspheric lens, which corrects for both conditions at the same time virtually eliminating and/or reducing the need for spectacles for distance and near vision.
Crystalens
For patients with cataracts and presbyopia, there is the Crystalens, which corrects for both conditions at the same time virtually eliminating and/or reducing the need for spectacles for distance and near vision.
Toric IOL
Astigmatism is a problem where the cornea is shaped like a football instead of a basketball. This uneven shape bends light rays so they do not focus precisely on the retina, resulting in blurred vision. Until recently, correcting astigmatism meant placing tiny incisions at the edge of the cornea. These incisions, known as LRIs (short for limbal relaxing incisions), caused the cornea to heal in a more spherical shape. Now, instead of additional surgery, cataract patients have another option – the Toric Intraocular Lens.
Tecnis Multifocal
The TECNIS MULTIFOCAL IOL is foldable, ultraviolet light-absorbing posterior chamber artificial lens for implantation in the eye to restore vision after a clouded natural lens (cataract) is removed. While traditional lens implants may improve your vision, only the TECNIS™ lens improves distance, intermediate and near vision. Thus reducing or eliminating your need to wear glasses.
Could I Benefit from Cataract Surgery?
Most general healthy individuals who are impacted by cataracts may be able to benefit from one of these procedures. The right procedure for you will depend on your experiences as well as your preferences. A consultation with our professionals at either of our California locations will help us determine the best treatment path for you.
