Pleasantly surprised that all staff were competent, pleasant, and accommodating. That is not common today. Dr. Kagan is extremely meticulous, conscientious of the patient’s uneasiness notwithstanding the routine normalcy from his position after decades of practice. He explains every detail. I could not be more satisfied with the results of my CK procedure at the Kagan Institute. Dr Kagan was very thorough in explaining the procedure and what I could expect after it was completed. Immediately following the procedure, I was able to see and read items up close after having to wear readers to read menus, books and the screens on my phone and laptop for over 10 years, since I was in my late-40s. It has now been two months since the procedure and my near vision is as intact as it was when my vision was still perfect. There has been an adjustment period while my far vision makes its way back to where it was prior to the procedure but I was informed by Dr Kagan that this would occur and this minor inconvenience is far outweighed by the benefit of not having to rely on the readers and bifocal readers that had been part of my daily life for a decade.read more

This has been overdue. I should've made this 1.5 months ago.I was always one of those women who swore they'd never get plastic surgery. So today I am 72 and my eyelids were extremely droopy. In 2015 I noticed that my eyelids are starting to look 'heavy'. I became really upset when people would ask 'Are you ok? You look tired/stressed?' despite me getting 8 hours of sleep the night before. The bags under my eyes bothered me for years. In 2018 inevitable aging had created horrendous eyebags. Some people age gracefully, and I just wasn't one of them. Why did I wait so long? I don’t know. But when I finally decided to have surgery for my lower eye bags I already knew I wanted to find the best doctor. When it comes to your face, you do not want a bargain- you want the best. I knew also the potential negative complications that surgery and anesthesia can have.However, I'm an extreme person that takes risks. Therefore, a big reason why I still decided to choose Dr. Arkady Kagan was that I 100% trusted his work, expertise, and philosophy. Going somewhere because it's "cheaper" isn't the risk you want to take. I read the endless 5 star reviews about Dr. Arkady Kagan. Dr. Arkady Kagan truly is an outstanding surgeon and expert in his field. I ended up deciding to do upper and lower blepharoplasty. I went to Dr. Arkady Kagan to help me with aging skin and baggy, droopy eyes. I was tired of looking tired. If Dr. Arkady Kagan couldn't "fix" my eyes, no-one would!But before I get into that, a word about the outstanding support Sabina, Dr. Arkady Kagan's office manager, provides to the pre- and post-op experience. She was infinitely patient with me, explaining how to prepare for the procedures and what to expect as I recovered. Then, she called me every day after my surgery for weeks to check on me and to patiently answer all of my questions and to offer expert advice. Elvira called me every day to monitor my progress and provided advice and suggestions for every concern or question I had.As Dr. Arkady Kagan explained, second part of procedure with lower blepharoplasty was not the simplest one, with a difficulty level assessed at 10/10 due to the combined functional changes it entailed.Unfortunately, high blood pressure is my problem - my blood pressure first jumped to 220/140 and then to 240/180. So I was expecting the worst. However Dr. Arkady Kagan made me feel really safe throughout the process and put me at ease right when I was feeling a nervous. However I had a lower blepharoplasty! Fat injections and laser work done and came out looking refreshed. And now, after the work is done, I can walk down the street feeling energetic and not like I'm the tired lady.I returned to Dr. Arkady Kagan office a week later for removal of the drains and some of the stitches.Now it has been 1.5 months since my eye blepharoplasty and I could not be more pleased with the results and I just want to thank Dr. Arkady Kagan again for doing this for me. I had very minor bruising for 3 days and then it all settled very naturally and subtlety- which is exactly what I want! Friends began to comment as the results just got better daily. My eyes were now bright and open. Any incisions he made are undetectable. I'm Very happy with the results thus far! Dr. Arkady Kagan said my best results will start appearing at around 6 months.If you, like me, are in your 70's and tired of looking tired when your not then call Dr. Arkady Kagan's Institute for a consultation. Dr. Kagan and his staff are amazing! I had been looking in to having corrective eye surgery since my 20s but was always hesitant and afraid. I am a long time glasses/contact lens wearer since 11 years old. In 2018, at the age of 43, my eyes all of the sudden rejected contact lenses. Every time I put them in they would get red and swollen, so after a year of having to wear glasses only, I went searching. To say he's thrilled with the service and treatment he received from Dr. Kagan would be an understatement, my uncle now enthusiastically refers to the doctor as 'The Miracle Worker'. I don't usually write reviews but my cataract experience with Dr. Kagan was so wonderful that I felt compelled to share how phenomenal the team is so other readers could hopefully benefit.My brother and my old college friend referred me to Dr. Kagan after their successful cataract procedure several years ago. Not only my vision deteriorated due to cataracts, I had a pre-glaucoma condition (elevated intraocular pressure ) and had to use drops twice a day to keep it under control. It's been almost three months since my surgery, and I couldn't be happier with the results and the care I've received. A life changing experience. I can't believe how painless, straightforward and easy Dr Kagan and his staff made the whole process of getting cataract surgery. The procedure itself was totally painless and everyone made me feel completely relaxed and at total ease. His assistants and everyone at his clinic are so warm, welcoming and reassuring throughout the whole process.Not only could I have my cataracts removed from both eyes (performed only 2 weeks apart !!) , but I could also opt for a lens that would correct my astigmatism and (!) I am SO HAPPY with my vision! I have been wearing glasses for 20 years and contacts for 15. I did PRK with Dr. Kagan and I could not be happier. The procedure took about 15-20 minutes total (counting waiting for numbness) and it was completely painless. After the procedure, he used protective films/lenses to protect my eyes and allow them to heal faster. For the first couple of days after the procedure it is very hard to see because of the film, but once they took it off, I was able to see perfectly. There was no pain the day of the procedure and the day after, but on the third and fourth day, the pain was pretty bad and I did need the pain medication he had prescribed. I am now a month and a half after the procedure and I am ecstatic to be able to see without wearing contacts or glasses.read more

I’ve dreamt about getting lasik eye surgery for many years. I’ve had to wear glasses and contacts for most of my life and I finally got to a point where I didn’t want to depend on either of those things for simple things like driving or watching tv. On top of that the contacts began to really strain my eyes. Dr. Kagan was referred to me by a trusted friend who herself had a lasik procedure done, so I felt more comfortable with him. Depending on your prescription, there are different types of lasik options. When I initially went in for the consultation Dr. Kagan gave me 2 options, PRK and regular lasik. He explained to me that PRK held less risk but definitely had a little more downtown vs getting that top layer of your flap lifted which frankly freaked me out a little in general. The actual procedure itself did not hurt at all. They give you xanex to calm your nerves before the procedure and I would highly recommend a Tylenol or something a little strong to take right after because you will feel some discomfort. The actual procedure pretty much consists of you looking at a flashing light for like 15 minutes. You don’t feel anything. It’s important to take at least 4 days off and make sure there is someone there with you at home. Stay on top of taking the pain medication every 4 hours, putting in the Eye drops provided and icing your eyes and you will be fine. I was blurry eyed for about 4-5 days. Sleep will be your best friend during that time. After that I could see perfectly. It really is amazing and so so convenient. To wake up in the morning and not think about your contacts or where your glasses are is truly a blessing. The staff at the office were extremely nice and very professional. I had to reschedule the procedure a few times and they really worked with my schedule. Also Dr. Kagan made sure to call me personally to see how I was doing. Overall I’m very happy with my decision and the doctor that I chose. I’ve had my 3rd follow up appointment and my vision is 15/20 right now.Things to purchase before procedure: small Eye friendly ice packs, Tylenol or something a little stronger for the first 2 days, a good pair or sunglasses and sleeping mask! Dr. Kagan is absolutely amazing!! I had PRP and Sculptura injected about a month ago and i have received so many compliments of how incredible i look. Kagan is extremely knowledgeable about this state of the art procedure and takes his time with you. I have also had my lasik and multiple botox injections throughout the years. DR. Before I knew about Dr. Kagan I went to another ophthalmologist to have a cataract removed and a lens inserted which would hopefully handle my extreme astigmatism in my left eye. (Three doctors told me it was the worst astigmatism they have ever seen). The doctor I went to had a shabby old office and old equipment. He only did 3 tests. I had to pry information out of him as he was not communicative. He said he had done thousands of these operations and was good. He did the operation and afterwards said that was as good as it was going to get and I would have to wear glasses to correct my vision for the rest of my life.Needless to say I was not happy so I went online and searched for a better eye doctor to handle the cataract in my other eye. I found Dr. Kagan’s website that had lots of positive reviews. I called to make an appointment.The first thing I noticed was how friendly and helpful the receptionist was. I made the appointment and went in. Dr. Kagan;s office is the exact opposite of my other doctor’s office. It was large, nice modern design and clean. His staff were all in nice matching uniforms. They were extremely friendly and helpful. All the work was done on computers and tablets - I never touched a piece of paper. The interview rooms were state of the art. Instead of 3 old test machines he has an entire room full of modern test machines to find out every possible detail concerning my eyes. And he had an award wall which included an award saying he was one of the top 10 ophthalmologists in the State of California.Talking to Dr. Kagan was wonderful. He was open, friendly, very knowledgeable, took lots of time, answered all my questions in detail ensuring I understood what he was saying. He did some testing on my left eye that the other doctor had not even done. I told him the other doctor said i would have to wear glasses. He said that was because the other doctor did an okay job up to a point but didn’t have the technical knowhow to finish the job. He said he did and would. And he did a simple, fast, painless procedure that resulted in my getting a non-prescription lens for my left eye - my eyesight was that good!Then he said he would do the best he could for my right eye. He said he would remove the cataract, insert a corrective lens and hopefully, but no guarantees, have me out of glasses. He was pretty sure he could do it. We went ahead and did the procedure which was also fast and painless. The operation was yesterday.Today, for the first time in 50 years, I am not wearing glasses. I cannot begin to tell you what it is like. I still have a few weeks for it to fully heal up and improve even more. But based on my tests today I am able to legally drive without glasses and I did so. I don’t think I have to tell you any more as to how I feel about Dr. Kagan and his staff.read more

I had Lasic surgery in 1998. Ten years ago my vision started to go bad slowly but steadily, and I had to put glasses back on. In the past 5 years I was actively looking for a doctor who could help me once again to forget about glasses. I learned about lens implants from my friends who had it done, but any doctor I would go to for consultation would refuse to do it. They all told me it was nearly impossible to do it after I had done Lasic due to difficulty of figuring out lens prescription to be implanted in my eyes. That was until I went to see dr.Kagan. He said he had the technology and a lot of experience from similar previous surgeries to perform a lens implant on me on both eyes after my Lasic surgery. I didn't read any reviews and just heard from a few of my friends that doctor Kagan is very professional. I scheduled an appointment and after I met doctor Kagan in person and spoke to him, I felt that I can trust him. We scheduled an operation within a week and operation was prepaid for certain day. The day before the operation my wife had pinch nerve and her pain was so severe that I couldn't left her by herself knowing that after my eye operation I would not be able to take of her. I called doctor Kagan's office the night before my operation, explain the situation with my wife. The office people calm me down and told me not to worry and take care of my wife first. The rescheduled the surgery for another day which most likely would not happened with any other doctor. It's been two weeks now after lens implants were done on both of my eyes by dr. Kagan. Each eye surgery was done one week apart. My glasses are off! My vision is even better than it was after my first Lasic surgery. The personal care and attention I received by dr. Kagan and each member of his staff superseded any of my expectations! It is my duty to recommend this brilliant caring doctor to anyone who is looking to see! Thank you dr. Doctor Kagan is awesome. I've had LASIK with him and i'm 100% satisfied and happy with the result. I would never imagine, that i could see good without wearing contacts and/or glasses, but Doctor Kagan made it happen. I am very greatful for that. He is extremely nice, smart and definitely the best eye surgeon in LA. I used to go to his office on Wilshire, but this one in Encino is very close to my house and it's like a piece of art and it is the best ophthalmology office in Valley for sure. I had heard great things about this doctor. I went for a consultation as I couldn't read without glasses anymore. Dr. Kagan explained in details why people over 40 partially lose their near vision. He spoke slowly and answered all my questions. He showed me an educational video describing why farsightedness happens and how it can be fixed. I had a Conductive Keratoplasty. The procedure took 5 min for both eyes. I could read the very same day. I told all my friends about Dr. Kagan and the CK surgery. I have 18 years relationship with Kagan institute. That should tell you all. Dr Kagan is very professional, always know what is he doing and never offer you something you don't need. I was confidant enough to refer all my friends and co-workers to him, because I knew they will come back happy from the experience and will not blame me for something that went wrong. I was skeptical on corrective eye surgery until I had a consultation with Dr. Kagan. He was confident and did not second guess which procedure I needed for perfect vision. Being a professional race car driving made me worrisome that tampering with my vision could change my career. Kagan was confident this would do nothing but correct and enhance my vision. This is exactly what happened. I decided to write the review after my eyes had healed to give a through explanation. I had CK procedure which was for farsightedness (problems seeing up close). It is a same day, in and out procedure therefore you will need someone to drive you home. He stated it would take about 2 weeks for recovery. It took less than that. His staff was very through and easy for scheduling. The office is extremely clean and he gives you his full attention which is unusual for doctors nowadays. PRO: SAVANT, OBLIGINGOn WED, 9/14/16, around 10a, (I didn’t know at the time) but I scratched the cornea in my left eye in 3 places. It was extremely painful and I couldn’t open it and I couldn’t work, the pain was excruciating. I called Dr. Kagan’s Office, after looking on line for an MD near my work.Since I would be a NEW patient, I had to make sure the Doctor was in, and he could and WOULD fit me in if he were booked for the day. The receptionist was very pleasant and very calming and squeezed me in at 12n.When he saw me, he immediately put drops in my eye to numb it, RELIEF! Took photos of my eye and showed me the scratches. He made me feel like I was in the right place. He took his time with me and explained how to correct it with various drops. “You should be back to normal in 24 to 48 hours.” I am happy to say it was 24 hours. I found Arkady online. I got an eye infection that caused excruciating pain in my left eye. I couldn't open my eye. I couldn't see. I couldn't drive. It was horrible. My first consultation with Dr. Kagan was in 1998, when I got my glasses for the first time. I have been waiting for my vision to stabilize to do Lasik as Dr. Kagan recommended. When the time was right I came to him for the consultation and I did not go to any other doctor not for a second opinion or better price. When it comes to your eyes, you need a doctor you can trust and doctor who knows what he is doing and has experience. I recently had Lasik vision correction surgery with Dr. Kagan (april 2012), and I can not begin to explain how amazing my experience was. Being a contact and glasses wearer for years I decided it was time to get rid of the contacts and glasses. I went to Dr. Kagan to have a consultation and to see if i was a candidate.
